Why We Publish Our Certificate Numbers

Any manufacturer can put a logo on a website. A certified apparel manufacturer can give you the certificate number, the body that issued it, and the date it expires. That is what your compliance team needs to add a supplier — and it is what we publish below. AJ Apparel International holds 8 active credentials across organic and recycled content certification, ethical trade audits, factory safety and environmental assessment. Some are certifications, some are audits, and some are memberships or sourcing programmes. We describe each one accurately, because a buyer who is told “SEDEX certified” by a supplier learns something about that supplier. Full certificates, transaction certificates and audit reports are available to brand partners on request.

Certificate Deep-Dives

GOTS Certified Clothing Manufacturer

What it covers:

The Global Organic Textile Standard covers the full processing chain for organic fibre garments — from certified fibre through dyeing, cutting, sewing and packing — with environmental and social criteria at every stage.

What it means for your brand:

You can sell organic cotton lines with a verifiable chain of custody. Products with at least 70% certified organic fibre qualify for GOTS labelling ('made with organic'); 95% or more qualifies for the 'organic' grade.

Documents you receive

Scope certificate + a Transaction Certificate (TC) per shipment, issued by our certification body. TCs must be requested at order confirmation.

How to verify:

Search our licence number in the GOTS public database.

GRS & RCS Certified Recycled Apparel

What it covers:

The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Recycled Claim Standard (RCS), owned by Textile Exchange, verify recycled content through the supply chain. GRS adds social, environmental and chemical requirements; RCS verifies content and chain of custody only.

What it means for your brand:

Recycled polyester and recycled cotton blends backed by certified claims — the documentation retailers ask for before listing 'recycled' products.

Documents you receive

Scope certificates + Transaction Certificates per shipment.

How to verify:

Search our licence number in the Textile Exchange certified organisations database.

SEDEX Member — SMETA Audited Factory

What it covers:

Sedex is an ethical trade membership platform, not a certification. Our facility is assessed through SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit), covering labour standards, health and safety, environment and business ethics.

What it means for your brand:

If your brand is a Sedex member, you can view our audit results and corrective actions directly on the platform — no document chasing.

Documents you receive

SMETA audit report and corrective action plan, shared via the Sedex platform.

How to verify:

Send us your Sedex ZC number and we link our profile to yours.

amfori BSCI Audited Clothing Manufacturer

What it covers:

amfori BSCI is a social compliance audit against the amfori Code of Conduct — covering fair pay, working hours, health and safety, no child or bonded labour, and workers' rights.

What it means for your brand:

Required or preferred by many European and international retailers. An audited supplier shortens your onboarding.

Documents you receive

BSCI audit report and rating, shared via the amfori platform.

How to verify:

Share your amfori ID and we grant platform access.

International Accord — Factory Safety

What it covers:

The International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry is a binding safety programme covering fire, electrical and structural safety inspections, remediation and worker safety training, with an independent complaints mechanism.

What it means for your brand:

Building and fire safety risk is removed from your supplier risk register — the first question after any industry incident.

Documents you receive

Accord compliance documentation and inspection status on request.

How to verify:

Factory status is published through the Accord's factory disclosure.

Better Cotton Sourcing

What it covers:

Better Cotton is a sourcing programme that promotes improved cotton farming practices. It is not a product certification and does not allow on-product labelling by us as the manufacturer.

What it means for your brand:

We can run production using Better Cotton sourcing where your brand or retailer requires it for its own Better Cotton commitments.

Documents you receive

Better Cotton sourcing confirmation for the relevant production run.

How to verify:

Better Cotton member list.

Higg Index Facility Assessments

What it covers:

The Higg Index, owned by Cascale and hosted on the Worldly platform, measures facility environmental performance (Higg FEM) and social and labour performance (Higg FSLM).

What it means for your brand:

Environmental data — energy, water, chemicals, waste — that feeds your own sustainability reporting.

Documents you receive

Higg FEM / FSLM modules shared through Worldly.

How to verify:

Send a share request on the Worldly platform.

Inditex Approved Supplier

What it covers:

Our facility has passed Inditex supplier approval, which includes compliance with the Inditex Code of Conduct and product safety and sustainability requirements.

What it means for your brand:

Proof that our systems already meet one of the most demanding supplier programmes in apparel — your onboarding standards are unlikely to be stricter.

Documents you receive

Approval confirmation on request.

How to verify:

Confirmation provided directly on request.
